“JEAN BUGATTI” VEYRON REVEALED

At the beginning of production, Bugatti had promised to build only 300 units of the ultra-fast Veyron. We are almost at the point of 300, with at least one of them having come to Mzansi’s Johann Rupert, and another being owned by actor Brad Pitt. Latest is the new Jean Bugatti.

AUDI REVEALS NEW A3 CABRIOLET FOR SUMMER

The now-bigger and completely new 2014 Audi A3 Cabriolet was exhibited at the 2013 Frankfurt International Motor Show. It’s now grown to 4.42 metres long, 1.79m wide and has a wheelbase of 2.6m metres. Yet height has been lowered to 1.4m. We’ll all get to ogle it at the 2013 JIMS next month.

ALFA ROMEO 4C DETAILED, HEADING FOR MZANSI

Fiat Auto South Africa will start selling the new Alfa Romeo 4C sometime in 2014, at a yet undisclosed price. As you can see from the pics, production has already begun. It’s being billed as a small, powerful, lightweight sports car in the mould of the Lotus Elise, but with much more tech and modern touches. And as such of course, it will be offered with a turbo engine.

NEW RANGE ROVER AND SPORT UPGRADES

At the 2013 Frankfurt International Motor Show, Land Rover presented a few upgrades for the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport models. The upgrades are not about styling, but concern engines, kit and some technologies. We reckon we’ll see some of these at the 2013 Johannesburg International Motor Show (JIMS) next month.

FIRST TURBO KIA KOUP HEADED TO JOZI

It has been a very busy year for Kia Motors South Africa (KMSA) so far. The year kicked off with the company opening it first solar-powered dealership in Weltevredenpark on 19 February 2013. March was followed by the introduction of 2 new vehicle derivative launches, the updated Sorento and the new Optima GDi. On 22 May 2013, KMSA launched the all new Cerato sedan and this vehicle has proven a worthy successor to the previous generation Cerato and a very competitive offering in its segment.

HONDA CONFIRMS TURBO CIVIC TYPE R WITH OVER 200KW

Honda, having previously showed us a glimpse of a blip of its upcoming 2015 Civic Type R hatch, has apparently confirmed some power figures. And they gave away some of their own “spy” pictures for all to enjoy. As far as Honda is concerned, we are all in for a marvellous treat when the new Type R goes on sale at the end of 2014 and beginning of 2015.

PORSCHE 918 SPYDER BREAKS NURBURGRING RECORD

As the first vehicle to boast global road homologation, the Porsche 918 Spyder has conquered the 20.6-kilometre lap around the Nürburgring Nordschleife in less than seven minutes. Achieving a time of exactly six minutes and 57 seconds, the super sportscar equipped with a hybrid drive shaved 14 seconds off the previous record.

Team Ford Racing maintained their run of podium finishes with the team having appeared on the rostrum at every round of the Donaldson Cross Country championship thus far this season.

IMPERIAL TOYOTA'S TAYLOR AND MURPHY DOMINATE

Anthony Taylor and Dennis Murphy (class SP Castrol Team Toyota Hilux) scored their fourth successive Donaldson South African Cross Country Championship win when they dominated the sixth round of the eight event series in Vryburg, North West Province on Saturday.
