Datsun has unveiled
its second 21st Century
product in the GO+, which of course
is based on the GO hatch that was
revealed a few months ago. Both GO
and GO+ will be available for sale
in Mzansi in 2014. The GO+ is essentially a value
MPV for mid-sized to large families who enjoy travelling together. It’s only
marginally smaller than a Livina,
but is also expected to cost less.
Size and dimensions are as follows: 3.995 metres long, 1.63m wide, 1.485m high and with a wheelbase of 2.45m. Add to that is the fact that it
has a third row of seats available for two more passengers. The engine is a naturally
aspirated 1.2-litre motor producing 51kW and 104Nm of torque, driven by a 5-speed
manual gearbox.
We believe, like the Toyota Avanza, the Datsun GO+ will be
quite popular with township taxi owners doing short local
routes. That of course, will depend on how much it costs here. In Indonesia it has launched at a price the equivalent of around R86 000. Fat chance of seeing that kinda price in Mzansi.
