We’ve posted a teaser video on our YouTube page featuring
the upcoming brand new 2014 Honda Civic Type R.
If you click over to the video you’ll notice there isn’t much going on there
except for a Nürburgring masked “intruder” who jumps over the fence and
starts painting Type R on the track tarmac itself. That’s about it.
Maybe more teasers will be sent out as we get closer to more
details being publicly revealed at the 2013
Frankfurt International Motor Show next month. In the meantime we can only speculate on a couple of things. One is
that the engine will be Type R’s first turbo
unit. Speculation is of a 2.0-litre
petrol turbo with about 190kW.
It will be front-wheel-driven and feature a 6-speed manual gearbox, as well as a limited slip differential (LSD).
We hope to see something at Frankfurt, and maybe even at the
2013 Johannesburg International Motor Show (JIMS) in October. Failing which, we’ll have the car in Mzansi come 2014.
