The 2012 New York International
Auto Show will be scene upon which BMW is to reveal its X1 facelift. Launched in Mzansi in April 2010, the X1 had become
Europe’s biggest-selling SUV by the
time it came over here. Such success
was not to be here, primarily because it’s not exactly cheap. Nevertheless we can expect the facelift either later in the
year or in early 2013.
As with other facelifts, the main areas receiving the cosmetics are the front and rear ends, but
the interior has also been updated.
Power should be sourced
from the existing cars, including sDrive20d with 135kW and 380Nm, as well
as new powertrains in the
sDrive/xDrive28i with 180kW and the xDrive35i making 225kW. Unfortunately so far only the USA will be getting the latter.
