Jaguar will unveil the C-X16 concept car at the 2011 Frankfurt International Motor Show. C-X16 is going to be the smallest kitty cat in the range when it goes it production. We say when, because it will, that is for sure. Its main targets are the Audi TT, BMW Z4, Mercedes-Benz SLK and Porsche Cayman/Boxster.
“This car has been designed from first principles,” said Jaguar Design Director Ian Callum. “It is an evolution of the design ethos of past Jaguar cars and defines the agenda for a future of dramatic, innovative sports cars. Purity of line and intent is what Jaguar does best.”
The car’s motor is a hybrid system based on a 3.0-litre supercharged petrol as well as a rear-mounted battery pack. It’s expected to deliver around 280kW of power and maximum torque of 450Nm. Power and torque go to the rear wheels through an 8-speed automatic gearbox. A 0 – 100km/h time of 4.4 seconds is claimed, while C02 emissions of 165 g/km can be expected.
