The current Mercedes-Benz C-Class is nearing the end of its life and the German company has already confirmed it
will build some of the upcoming 2014
C-Class units here in East London, South Africa. But before it goes, a goodbye gift must be offered. And in
this case it’s called the C 63 AMG
Edition 507.
The car is of course a C 63 AMG, but with some
extra horses up its sleeve. Normally it would use its 6.3-litre V8 engine to garner some 336kW, but this time Merc saw it fit to boost power to 373kW, same as the previous-generation BMW M5 (V10). Maximum torque has been
pegged at 610Nm. It is claimed to
speed off from 0 – 100km/h in just 4.2
seconds, reaching the unusual limited top speed of 280km/h.
Only a few C
63 AMG Edition 507 models will arrive in Mzansi this year, soon after being exhibited at the Johannesburg International Motor Show in
Nasrec. Prices have not been confirmed but you can bet 373kW it will cost over R1
million.
