Citroën says its technical solution for the brand new DS3 Cabriolet is modern, but one can clearly see the “retroness” in
it. Instead of being able to open the whole entire roof with pillars, only the top part can be
displaced, slid backwards towards
the rear end. It’s just like they used to do back in the day.
Does this then take away from the DS3 Cabriolet’s beauty? I reckon not. It probably adds to it in fact. At the same
time, I think it makes it look more feminine
than masculine, meaning the ladies
will probably be more impressed than
the non-pink guys.
The roof itself comes in three different styles and can be electronically
operated at up to 120km/h. as is
normal in these instances, extra weight
has been put on as a result of the roof mechanism.
Thankfully it’s only to the tune of 25kg
on the equivalent tin top DS3.
The Citroën DS3 Cabriolet is a competitor to the likes of MINI Convertible and will be unveiled
to the public at the 2012 Paris
International Motor Show which kicks off at the end of September.
