DRB-Hicom, the
new majority owners of Lotus Cars, has suspended Lotus CEO Dany Bahar indefinitely. A statement
my DRB-Hicom says this is in order to facilitate an investigation into a complaint
about Bahar’s conduct. Said complaint was issued by DRB-Hicom itself.
Bahar joined Lotus in 2009 from Ferrari. His main task was to remodel the iconic British brand into a slick new outfit that could run alongside his former employer, as well as the likes of Porsche and Aston Martin.
Instead, Lotus still has not realised a profit since DRB-Hicom’s fellow Malaysian company Proton bought it way back in 1996. No surprises
there since nothing much in terms of new product has been forthcoming, despite rivals pushing out new models like a fashion
week catwalk.
