It’s only a matter of weeks now before BMW South Africa launches the brand new 6 Series Gran Coupe, a four-door
coupe version of the beautiful 6. However, we have already gotten a hold of
which models are coming and at what prices. The 6 Gran Coupe will be launched
in 640i and 640d guises, starting at R877 000.
For that you can get a 640i
GC standard with an 8-speed
automatic gearbox. The M Sport
version is obviously sportier and comes with extra goodies as well. Price for
the 640i M Sport starts at R906 600, while the 640i
Individual costs R981 300. The 640i
is powered by a 3.0-litre turbo
engine making 235kW and 450Nm, said to be capable of 0 – 100km/h
in 5.4 seconds. As for the 640d, it
kicks out 230kW and 630Nm of torque, returning on average 5.5 litres per 100km as claimed by BMW.
The 0 – 100km/h is the same as the petrol-powered 640i. It starts at R912 400, then on to R942 300 for the M Sport, topping
off at R1 016 700 for the 640d
Individual.
Later we expect a 300kW
650i Gran Sport, as well as a 412kW
M6 version. The latter will go directly up against the similarly-sized Porsche Panamera Turbo. Some of the
standard stuff installed for “free” includes the satellite navigation system with 3D mapping and a 12GB on-board music storage system, lane
departure warning, LED foglights and
a glass roof among others. There’s also an optional Bang & Olufsen sound system with a R49 800 price tag. Ouch!
absolutely beautiful car.
