Now the motoring public can experience visual beauty and
driving elegance in one, thanks to the introduction of a two-pedal version of
the Citroën DS4.
With the option of a sophisticated six-speed automatic gearbox mated to a new version of the THP 1.6-litre four- cylinder engine, the DS4 160 THP Sport Auto effortlessly deploys its 120kW and 240Nm. This combination of power and torque is specific to this model, with engine characteristics tuned to suit its drivetrain.
A sequential shift gate allows the driver to take over and determine how and when shifts take place. This is in keeping with the DS4’s driver-centric nature, where the journey is as important as the destination.
The 6-speed automatic transmission endows the newcomer with a 212km/h top speed and a 9.3 second sprint to 100km/h.
Combined fuel consumption of 7.7-litres and CO2 emissions of 178 grams per kilometre confirm the efficiency of the package.
It’s equally capable in terms of making a light impact on the wallet and its price includes a 3-year/100 000 km warranty and a 5-yr/100 000 km service plan – the Citroen DS4 Auto appeals to the head and the heart.
Its stable mate, the DS4 200 THP manual, was a finalist in the South African Car of the Year competition and the DS3 achieved the same accolade a year ago, suggesting that the DS line – which highlights Citroen’s heritage and embraces concepts such as creativity, innovation and style - is making its mark both in South Africa and abroad. Global sales have just passed the 180 000 mark.
DS-badged cars pay homage to the original DS19 which was unveiled in 1955 and remains a watchword for striking beauty and technological innovation both inside and out.
The DS4 combines outstanding styling with 2+2 door practicality: the rear doors having handles hidden in the frames which are seamlessly integrated into the flowing lines of the body, giving the appearance of a sleek two-door coupe.
Already feted as the car which turned automotive design on its head with its unique market positioning and arresting combination of lines and curves, the DS4 has gone on to win awards that acknowledge both its inner and outer beauty.
At the 26th International Automobile Festival in Paris, an on-line poll by more than 60 000 motoring enthusiasts in 62 countries saw the DS4 adjudged The Most Beautiful Car of the Year and at the same event was voted Most Beautiful Interior by a jury made up of personalities from the worlds of design, sport, culture and the media.
Finely crafted to convey a prestigious presence both inside and out, the DS4 features meticulous detailing from carefully applied chrome touches to the use of top quality materials for the stylish interior, including the finest leather for the seats.
A large, panoramic windscreen provides the occupants with
outstanding visibility and creates a bright and welcoming interior with a
driver-focused cockpit.
The DS4 THP 160 Sport Auto is priced from R313 900 and comes with a 3-year 100 000km warrant. An optional 5 year /100 000km warranty extension is available.
