CHEVROLET ANNOUNCES DIESEL CAPTIVA

Chevrolet South Africa has heeded calls from certain quarters, including the motoring media, for a more frugal Captiva SUV. The new Captiva 2.2D is now available at your local dealership, sporting a turbo diesel engine promising good power, hearty torque and long, uninterrupted journeys.

The engine is a 4-cylinder 2.2-litre turbo diesel with high pressure, direct injection. Maximum power is 135kW, and maximum torque is 400Nm. Friendly with it is a 6-speed automatic gearbox that sends thrust to all four wheels. Chevy says it can accelerate from 0 – 100km/h in 10.1 seconds and stop doing so at 191km/h. A claimed average fuel consumption figure of 8 litres per 100km is stated, giving it a driving range of just over 800km from a full tank.

The car is highly specced out in standard kit, including 19-inch alloy wheels, an adjustable steering wheel, climate control, leather trim, electric mirrors, cruise control, rear park assist and a sunroof among others.

  1. Ya this is a good idea. My cousin has a Captiva and it's one of the thirstiest cars I ever came across in my life! Maybe the diesel will help but isn't it noisy?
