SMART BAKKIE CONCEPT HEADED TO DETROIT

What’s that? A smart bakkie? Indeed, Mercedes-Benz is unveiling a concept smart with pickup ambitions, even though those ambitions could end up meaning picking up only shoe boxes. In any case, take a look yourself and decide if you would buy a smart pickup, and if you did buy it, would you use it.

Being a smart, the for us measures 3.5 metres long, 1.5m wide and 1.7m high, and also has a load box. The thing uses a 55kW magneto-electric motor with 130Nm of torque, making it an electric car completely. Apparently it can reach up to 120km/h.

We’ll see the concept at the 2012 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit in January.
