JEEP WRANGLER GOES FRUGAL ON DIESEL

The Jeep name has introduced a new 2.8-litre turbo diesel engine into its lineup. This should alleviate the pain felt by regular petrol Jeep Wrangler owners and drivers each time they have to fill up, which is quite often. It’s a powerful and torquey motor as well. There’s also some visual differences as well for the Sahara from other Wranglers.

In terms of Sahara’s the looks, the major differences include a colour-coded roof instead of the traditional black top, and things like redesigned instrument panels and 12V outlets for the interior. The engine itself produces 147kW and 460Nm of torque, mated to a 5-speed automatic gearbox. Claimed average fuel consumption is 8.1 litres per 100km, while C02 emissions are said to be 213 g/km.

The Jeep Wrangler 2.8 CRD Sahara costs R394 990, while the Unlimited version goes for R419 990.
