Audi South Africa says it will launch the Q3 small SUV, the first direct rival to the BMW X1, sometime before June 2012. The Q3 falls below the Q5, which falls below the big Q7. One would say the Q3 is the SUV version of the A1hatch.
Measuring 4.4 metres long, 1.8m wide and 1.6m high, Q3 is compact as they come at this level. Two engines should appear at launch, the 2.0 TFSI worth 125kW and 155kW, as well as the 2.0-litre TDI making 130kW. A 7-speed S tronic gearbox will be one of the mechanical options.
The car is said to offer plenty of options for the young buyer who wants and can afford a stylish premium SUV that will likely cost over R300 000. So expect things like Bluetooth, SD card slots, satellite navigation, sunroof and others.
