KIA CONFIRMS NEW RIO FOR MZANSI AND JIMS

After making its World Debut at this year’s Geneva Motor Show, the all new Kia Rio 5-door hatchback is about to make its first appearance to the South African public at this year’s Johannesburg International Motor Show. “We are very excited about this new model, and we are confident that it will be one of our best sellers”, comments Ray Levin, CEO: Kia Motors SA.

Kia’s fourth-generation Rio is a revolution, not an evolution of its predecessor.  It boasts a bold and distinctive personality, bringing the latest model into line with Kia’s design-led product range.  New Rio combines European finesse with Korean spice to create a form language that also communicates Latin flair, for a truly global appeal.

Longer, wider and lower, new Rio is set to completely redefine its position as one of the most competitive vehicles in one of the most competitive sectors – the B-segment.  The five-door has a length of 4 045mm and features an extended wheelbase by 70mm (to 2 570mm) – greatly enhancing passenger space and cargo capacity.

To complement the striking exterior, Rio’s interior design has also been transformed to give the car genuine premium feel, along with unprecedented spaciousness in the B-segment.

The new Kia Rio 5-door hatchback will be launched to the local South African public towards the end of the year, upon time which final specification levels will be confirmed.
