MAZDA CX-5 TO DEBUT IN FRANKFURT

Mazda hasn’t’ really had a killer product in a long while. Yes its cars sell well enough but they don’t exactly crack up the charts in the same way as some of its competitors like Volkswagen or Toyota do. One car to set the tone for the next-generation Mazda is the CX-5, a compact crossover ready to take out cars like the Dodge Caliber and Nissan Qashqai.

CX-5 will introduce SKYACTIV technology into Mazda products. It will make its world debut at the 2011 Frankfurt International Motor Show alongside the facelift Mazda3. SKYACTIV consists of both petrol and diesel powertrains, with manual or automatic gearboxes. Mazda says its target for the 2.2-litre diesel motor is an average of less than 120 g/km in C02 emissions.

If we are lucky we’ll see the CX-5 at the 2011 Johannesburg International Motor Show (JIMS) in NASREC this October.
