We aren’t too sure when exactly the Range Rover Evoque is being launched in South Africa, but we already have pricing and other information, thanks to Land Rover’s official website. Evoque will be available in two forms, one called the Coupe and the other, the 5-door, is just plain Evoque. Both almost touch R600 000 in standard garb.
First off, what’s on the table in terms of powertrains? Well, to start with, the new 2.2-litre SD4 turbo diesel engine is fitted into both cars where it makes a respectable 144kW. A 6-speed automatic transmission is standard and helps with fuel consumption. The petrol is also a 2.0-litre turbo, and is good for 177kW. Both models are exclusively in all-wheel-drive (AWD), unlike in Europe where a front-wheel-drive (FWD) option is available at entry level.
The Evoque can be had in ten exterior colours, one solid and 9 metallic, including a Mauritius Blue and a Firenze Red. Standard wheels are 19-inches, while three different types of 20-inches can be ticked off the options list. You may even specify a large, dark tinted panoramic sunroof. Several interior themes can be specified to each customer’s taste, allowing plain single-colour types or two-tone combos.
Interior features include things like climate control with rear vents, illuminated tread plates, sun visors with vanity mirrors for driver and front passenger, keyless entry, push button start, an 20.3cm touch screen with satellite navigation capability, Bluetooth connectivity, a 380 Watt Meridian sound system and others.
The Land Rover Range Rover Evoque 3-door Coupe is priced from R582 995, and the 5-door model starts selling at R588 995.
