BMW has announced an M Sport package for the 6 Series which appears at the 2011 Johannesburg International Motor Show (JIMS) in October. At the same time the company said the 6 will, for the first time ever, also be offered with xDrive all-wheel-drive (AWD) instead of its traditional rear-wheel-drive (RWD) system.
This M Package consists of things like unique 19-inch alloy wheels, an M aerodynamic kit, LED foglights, sports seats, an Alcantara leather upholstery combo, a B&O sound system with 1200W and 16 speakers. Not sure where all these speakers are, given the car only has two doors.
Under the bonnet is a brand new engine for the 6, which is based on the 3.0-litre diesel unit. The model kicks out 230kW at 4400rpm, and massive torque of 630Nm between 1500rpm and 2500rpm. That’s in the 640d Coupe and Convertible.
Another new development is of course the addition of xDrive AWD which is offered in the 650i models. The 650i is powered by a twin turbo 4.4-litre V8 making 300kW and 600Nm.
BMW South Africa is also expected to offer this M Sport Package for the car.
Even this package could not save this disappointing car.
