A refreshed new Mazda2 has been launched in Japan. The tiny hatch is now fitted with Mazda’s new SKYACTIV-G engine, the first application for the motor. Mazda2 is one of our favourite small cars hands-down, and we cannot for the facelift to hit Mzansi.
SKYACTIV-G is a 1.3-litre 4-cylinder with no turbos at all, but it pulls out a nice 62kW as well as 112Nm of torque. Mazda says it will sip fuel at a rate of only 3.3 litres per 100km. it’s also equipped with i-stop (start/ stop fuel-saving system). There’s also something called i-DM which measures how the driver drives and scores him/her on a level between 1 and 3, the last one being the best. As awesome as the Mazda2 is to drive, that to us sounds like a pointless gimmick. This is not even a hypothetical Mazda2 MPS.
nice car
