Thanks to the good habits of BMW, other automakers are now starting to send off their own “spy” pictures of cars not yet in the market. One such is Ford with this new upcoming ST, camouflaged in the usual milk-carton cow paintwork. Unfortunately the exercise (despite the fact that they used bits of the new normal Focus and the old ST), is quite pointless since we already know what the next Focus ST looks like. Nevertheless we are happy Ford shared these pics.
The new Focus ST is expected to be in Mzansi in 2012, after the launch of the all-new Focus range. It runs on a 2.0-litre Ecoboost engine with turbo, spitting out 184kW straight into the front wheels. This car was shot undergoing performance testing in northern Europe. A lot of testing, involving 60 units, has been taking place in North America and in Europe.
“We’ve done all the engineering groundwork, and now we’re using some of the most demanding roads we can find in Europe and North America to validate and fine tune the performance and driving dynamics,” said Jost Capito, Ford's director of Global Performance Vehicles. Hey Jost, we have hundreds of kilometres of the best roads in the world in South Africa too you know!
