CHEVROLET SOLD 1.1 MILLION CARS IN Q1 ALONE

Chevrolet as a brand, is growing by leaps and bounds. General Motors relaunched the brand a couple of years ago as its mainstay seller. And it hasn’t disappointed. About 5.8% of all cars sold in the world last year was a Chevrolet. According to the latest official figures, 1.1 million Chevys were sold in the first three months of 2011, representing a 15% rise over 2010.

Some of the highlights include the US where Chevy sold on average, 138 835 cars every month since January. In China 159 303 cars were sold over the past three months, Brazil pushed 142 734 vehicles, Mexico did 37 291 and South Africa moved 7 004 units over the same 3-month period. Hopefully our new BRICS membership will help make the SA plant to produce for some of the other members. Recently GM announced the introduction of Chevrolet to the South Korea market with products like the Cruze, Spark and Orlando.

Chevrolet South Africa is launching the new facelift Captiva in May. Other products expected from the company include the new Aveo / Sonic and the Malibu sedan, a VW Passat/ Mazda6/ Hyundai Sonata competitor.
