Audi of South Africa has confirmed that the new A7 Sportback will be available in the country sometime next month (March). According to Audi officials, the A7 will be launched to the media while it rolls out to dealerships where customers can take a much closer look, arrange test drives and place orders to their liking.
The A7 Sportback is based on the Audi Sportback Concept of Detroit 2009. It is placed just above the A6 sedan in terms of size and features the same engine lineup. As a concept it follows Audi’s recent obsession with the sportback model, which truth be told, was pioneered by the brand anyway. Four doors, a sloping rear roof, spacious interior with seating for four. There may be an optional rear bench seat offered to customers. Main competitor is the Mercedes-Benz CLS which gets replaced later this year.
For now we don’t know which of the following engines will be available from the onset: 3.0 TDI (180kW), 2.0 TFSI (155kW), 3.0 TFSI (220kW), 4.2 V8 (273kW) and 4.2 TDI V8 (250kW, 800Nm).
Audi designs pretty wagons or what ever they call them. So let them stick to it and forget about sedans maybe they can do better on that front.
