G-POWER KEEPS "WORLD'S FASTEST SEDAN" TITLE WITH M5 HURRICANE RR

G-POWER is once again claiming the title of “World’s fastest sedan” with the new BMW M5-based Hurricane RR. The car uses the same V10 engine found on the outgoing M5 but tweaks it to unrecognisable proportions.

From its “humble” 373kW beginnings, the G-POWER team
has upped power to a scary 588kW between 7500rpm and 8000rpm. Maximum torque is 800Nm, found at 5000rpm. The 0 – 100km/h time is 4.35 seconds while 0 – 200km/h is 25.8 seconds. Great figures, but not too impressive if you consider the standard 373kW M5 does 0 - 100km/h in 4.6 seconds, while a Porsche 911 Turbo S does the same time in 3.3 seconds.

However, the important figure here is the top speed, for which the record is being claimed. That number is 372km/h which is only 35km/h slower than a normal Bugatti Veyron.

Part of the technical work includes the use of a twin supercharger system for the high-revving V10. Air volume has been increased by 25% and is thus responsible for most of the power boost.

Michelin provided high-performance Pilot Sport tyres measuring 255/35 ZR 19 at the front and 305/30 ZR 19 at the rear. For everyday use the car runs on 20-inch Silverstone CLUBSPORT wheels with the dimensions 245/35 ZR 20 and 285/30 ZR 20 front and rear respectively.
