VIDEO: BMW PAS SKETCHED

Two years ago BMW announced that it was building a car that would put spaciousness above all else. Well, in addition to handling of course. Scribes like myself went on a frenzy thinking the company would be taking on vehicles like the Renault Scenic or the Mercedes-Benz R-Class.

Well now BMW has released this OFFICIAL VIDEO that shows exactly what type of concept the Progressive Active Vehicle (or PAS) really is. Although they use black & white sketches on the video, the basics are these: it’s not a three-row-seater but rather has two rows of seats like normal cars. But the rear seats are quite flexible and offer vast amounts of adjustability. The PAS stands high, higher than a normal sedan but lower than an SUV like the X5 for example.

It also features a storage compartment in the boot that is part of the boot but can be accessed without opening the entire boot lid. Kind of like a sedan.

BMW says the PAS will still handle like a BMW and will feature powerful engines. From the sketches it appears one of them is the 3.0-litre twin turbo petrol/ diesel as evidenced by the two single pipes on either side of the car. We think a concept version of the car will be shown either in Geneva or in Shanghai. Maybe even the New York Auto Show but well before Frankfurt Motor Show in September.
